'Cleópatra', com Alessandra Negrini, é aplaudido em Veneza. Filme de Julio Bressane é exibido em público pela primeira vez no festival italiano. Longa-metragem mostra a complexidade da figura da última rainha do Egito. O cineasta brasileiro Julio Bressane leva para o Festival de cinema de Veneza o mito Cleópatra com um filme "cult" e elegante, exibido no sábado (1º) na sessão intitulada "Veneza Mestres". Bressane, de 61 anos, um dos pioneiros do cinema experimental latino-americano, confessou sua emoção com a primeira projeção pública do filme "Cleópatra" no Palácio veneziano, onde foi bastante aplaudido. Com a lenda de Cleópatra, um dos mitos mais extravagantes da antigüidade, Bressane lança-se em uma espécie de viagem interior, em um espaço histórico pessoal, marcado pela estilização da cultura egípcia, ambientado com cores alaranjadas e acobreadas, com figuras geométricas e cenas rodadas nos sugestivos penhascos do Forte de Copacabana, no Rio de Janeiro. "Que posso dizer? Meu filme é como entrar no subconsciente", disse o diretor, que reviveu em 2001 outro personagem histórico, o filósofo alemão Friedrich Nietzsche, narrando no filme "Dias de Nietzsche em Turim" o processo mental que o levou à loucura. Bressane, convidado pessoalmente pelo diretor da Mostra veneziana, Marco Muller, consegue contar à sua maneira a complexidade da figura de Cleópatra (interpretada pela atriz Alessandra Negrini), última rainha do Egito. O mito De origem grega, amante de Julio César (Miguel Falabella) e Marco Antônio (Bruno Garcia), hábil política e mulher sábia, chegou a ser identificada com os deuses: Afrodite e Ísis. Bressane, que trabalhou durante 15 anos no tema e fez diversas pesquisas sobre a vida de Cleópatra, consultando os textos de Plutarco, obteve uma iconografia especial, exótica, graças a moedas e esculturas da época. O cineasta, que introduz sóbrias cenas de sexo e inclusive faz uso em algumas partes de música contemporânea, danças e mímicas, afirma que seu filme tenta transmitir a visão com a qual a cultura portuguesa abordou o mito de Cleópatra. "Este pequeno filme, que aborda o grande tema da tirania, narra a lenda de Cleópatra segundo um imaginário lingüístico, uma linguagem que conta com a força do lirismo", escreveu Bressane. Para o cineasta, Cleópatra, que levou uma vida mais que tempestuosa e decidiu se suicidar no ano 30 a.C., após ter conseguido subjugar o Império Romano, foi uma mulher "entusiasta, trágica, musical, apaixonada pela razão, intelectual, símbolo da junção de culturas, mistura de loucura e sobriedade, resumindo, um sonho...".
